Player Data

Left-handed opening batsman Tim McIntosh made his belated entry into international cricket at the age of 29. McIntosh, who has a style reminiscent of former New Zealand player Mark Richardson is used as a specialist in the longer format for the Black Caps.

McIntosh played domestic cricket for Auckland and commenced his stint with the team in the 1998-99 season. He did not enjoy his first season but the following three seasons brought to light the opener’s skill as he scored 820 runs at an average of 58.57. A good 2008-09 List ‘A’ season where he scored 190 in five matches at an average of 47.50 got him into national reckoning. He made his debut for the Black Caps in a 2008 Test against the West Indies and went on to score a century in just his second match. Delayed though his entry has been, Tim McIntosh is making the most of his time in the spotlight.
