Player Data

When he first debuted at the first-class level in 2004-05, Australian pacer Brett Geeves knew little about the jeopardy his career would be in, courtesy his grueling injury woes.

Geeves started off well in the domestic arena with 20 wickets in the ING Cup, contributing significantly to Tasmania’s title triumph that year. He followed it up with strong performances in the FR Cup and Pura Cup games. ‘Banger’ was eventually selected to play for Australia, as he debuted in an ODI against Bangladesh in 2008. A right-arm medium-fast bowler, he is capable of delivering inswinging yorkers, a skill that once made him a dangerous bowler to face in limited overs. He has also been a useful lower-order batsman.

Having not played a single first-class game since January 2010, Geeves called it quits owing to a prolonged back injury. He ended his career with 140 wickets in 41 appearances. However, he continues to be a part of the Big Bash League, subject to the aggravation caused by the injury.
