Player Data

An aggressive left-handed batsman and an agile fieldsman, Jonathan Vandiar is an Indian-origin cricketer who plays for South Africa. He has represented his country at the Under-19 level and is also a part of the Lions on the domestic circuit, along with playing for KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa A. However, his first-class debut came for the Dolphins in 2007. Vandiar first came into limelight when he made a brilliant 103* for South Africa in an Under-19 Test against Bangladesh in 2006-07. He made waves in the 2008 U-19 World Cup in Malaysia by becoming the leading run-scorer in the tournament.

Vandiar initially played in the Chatsworth Cricket Academy, before moving to play for the Lions. In the 2010 Champions League Twenty20, his blistering knock of 71 runs caused a major upset to the Mumbai Indians. A torn Achilles in 2008-09 put his career on hold for sometime, but he recovered soon and was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011 for the fourth IPL season.
