Enamul Haque Jr stormed into the Bangladesh side as a result of coach Dav Whatmore's discovery of an effective spinner. Born in Sylhet, the youngster made his first-class debut in the 2000-01 season.
Haque first made his way into the Board President's XI in the opening match of England's tour of Bangladesh in 2003-04 and took the England batsmen by surprise with his astonishing spell. His three wickets in that match instantly handed him his Test debut at Dhaka. In tandem with the experienced Mohammad Rafique, Haque bowled brilliantly for a debutant, once again Bamboozling the Englishmen. He soon became a fixture in the side. Haque had a major role to play in Bangladesh's first Test win over Zimbabwe in 2005, with figures of 6-45. In the second Test, he bagged a total of 12 wickets, an impressive start to his career.
He had a quiet season the following year, but was part of the Maharashtra Ranji side in the 2008-09 season. A couple of poor seasons followed, but Haque bounced back strongly in his country's 2011-12 first-class competition, fetching as many as 59 wickets.
