Player Data

Bruce Martin is a slow left-arm orthodox spinner and a right-hand batsman. He has played for the Northern Districts for 10 years, after which he switched camp to Auckland. He was also a part of the New Zealand A side that played in the Emerging Players Tournament in Australia in 2011.

Martin had a superb debut season for Northern Districts when he bagged 37 wickets in the 1999-00 season. He also bagged 7 wickets for Auckland in the 2010-11 season. Martin is no mug with the bat as he boasts of a score of unbeaten 113 for New Zealand A against Sri Lanka A batting at number 10. In 2012, the uncapped 32-year old Martin was called-up to New Zealand’s Test squad for their series against South Africa. He was the leading wicket-taker among the spinners in that year’s Plunket Shield, which led to his inclusion in the national side.
