Fightback is the word that defines the performance of Indian team on day 4. KL Rahul, Jadeja and Crucial Partnership between Bumarh and Akashdeep saved India from a follow on.
On Day 4 of the 3rd Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, the Indian cricket team showed a spirited fightback with their middle and lower order stepping up after a dismal start to their innings. India, who were reeling at 51/4 overnight, managed to avoid the follow-on thanks to determined performances from key players.
KL Rahul played a pivotal role, scoring a resilient 84 off 139 balls, anchoring the innings when it was most needed. His innings included 12 fours and was crucial in steadying the ship amidst early losses.
Ravindra Jadeja supported with a well-paced 77 off 123 deliveries, proving his worth both with bat and ball. His innings was marked by patience and smart shot selection, providing backbone to the Indian innings.
The real surprise came from the lower order, where Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah put on an unbeaten 39-run partnership for the 10th wicket. Deep, with an unbeaten 27, and Bumrah, not out on 10, showcased grit and determination, ensuring India would not have to bat again immediately, thus keeping the match alive.
"It's the kind of resilience we expect from our lower order. They've shown that even from the tail, you can fight back and make a difference." – Ravi Shastri, former Indian cricket coach
By the end of Day 4, India had reached 252/9, trailing by 193 runs. This performance has set up an intriguing final day, with the possibility of India still in the contest, even if a win looks challenging.
